Hannah Eisendle — debut with the Orquesta Nacional de España

23 APRIL 2027

Hannah Eisendle — debut with the Orquesta Nacional de España

Hannah Eisendle will make her conducting debut with the Orquesta Nacional de España on 23 April 2027 at the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid. The engagement is particularly significant because it brings together the two complementary sides of her artistic career: the podium and composition. For the Austrian conductor and composer, this is an important new chapter in her growing international presence.

The programme will also include the world premiere of A María Zambrano, a new work commissioned by the orchestra. Drawing inspiration from a poem by Rosa Chacel dedicated to the Spanish philosopher María Zambrano, the piece connects Eisendle’s distinctive compositional voice with Spanish intellectual and literary history. The Madrid project is both a major orchestral debut and a statement of her identity as a creative musician.

Giulia Rimonda — debut with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz

In February 2027, Giulia Rimonda will make her debut with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, performing Beethoven’s Triple Concerto in C major, Op. 56. The young Italian violinist joins pianist Martina Consonni and cellist Maximilian Hornung, with Rossen Gergov conducting. Developed in cooperation with Villa Musica Rheinland-Pfalz, the project brings three soloists together in a work that combines the intimacy of chamber music with the scale of a symphonic concert.

The first performance is scheduled for 20 February 2027 at the Rheingoldhalle in Mainz, followed by a second concert on 21 February at Mannheim’s Rosengarten. Beethoven’s unusual concerto gives Rimonda the opportunity to demonstrate both her solo artistry and her close musical dialogue with fellow performers. The engagement represents a meaningful step in her expanding concert activity in Germany.

Ian Bousfield — world premiere of Francisco Coll’s revised Tapias

On 17 September 2026, Ian Bousfield gave the world premiere of the substantially revised version of Francisco Coll’s trombone concerto Tapias at Stavanger Concert Hall. He appeared with the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra under conductor Nuno Coelho, in a programme that also included music by Mozart and Shostakovich. The performance introduced a new stage in Bousfield’s collaboration with the Spanish composer.

The three-movement, approximately 15-minute work takes its title from the Spanish word for ‘walls’ and draws inspiration from graffiti, dance rhythms and the visual world of Jean-Michel Basquiat. Coll, himself a trombonist, has placed particular emphasis on the instrument’s lyrical and delicate colours, especially in the revised finale. The concerto was commissioned through an international partnership of orchestras and institutions, with further performances planned in the 2026/27 season.

Alessandro Palumbo — Cavalleria rusticana / Pagliacci in Darmstadt

Alessandro Palumbo — Cavalleria rusticana / Pagliacci in Darmstadt

Alessandro Palumbo opened the 2026/27 opera season at Staatstheater Darmstadt on 29 August 2026, conducting Mascagni’s Cavalleria rusticana and Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci with the Staatsorchester Darmstadt. The new double bill is staged and designed by Intendant Karsten Wiegand and approaches the two defining works of Italian verismo from contrasting theatrical perspectives.

While Cavalleria rusticana challenges familiar images of its Mediterranean setting, Pagliacci explores questions of performance, authenticity and identity in a contemporary world. Palumbo’s conducting has received notable critical attention, with reviewers praising the dramatic intensity of the orchestral playing and his sensitivity to the voices onstage. The production continues during the autumn, with further performances scheduled in October, November and December 2026.

Concerto München — Orfeo ed Euridice at Ópera de Tenerife

The period-instrument ensemble Concerto München travelled to Tenerife in January 2026 to perform in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice at the Auditorio de Tenerife. Two performances, on 22 and 23 January in the Sala Sinfónica, were sold out. Jordi Francés provided the musical direction, with Johannes Berger as ensemble conductor, in a production conceived by Pep Ramis and María Muñoz of Mal Pelo.

Rather than remaining solely in the orchestra pit, the musicians of Concerto München became part of the theatrical world of the performance, with ensemble members also integrated into the stage action. The production brought Gluck’s eighteenth-century musical language into dialogue with contemporary dance and visual theatre. The cast included Teresa Iervolino as Orfeo, Ana Vieira Leite as Euridice and Mira Alkhovik as Amore, together with the Coro Titular Ópera de Tenerife–Intermezzo.
