Alessandro Palumbo made his debut at the Ravello Festival on 11 August 2026, conducting the festival’s iconic Concerto all’alba at the Belvedere di Villa Rufolo with the Orchestra Filarmonica “Giuseppe Verdi” di Salerno.
An iconic Ravello tradition
Beginning at 5:15 in the morning, the sold-out concert brought music and landscape together above the Amalfi Coast as the audience experienced the transition from darkness to sunrise. The Concerto all’alba has become one of the events most closely associated with the identity of the Ravello Festival.

From darkness to sunrise
Palumbo conducted a programme spanning Bizet’s Carmen Suites Nos. 1 and 2, Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8 and Liszt’s symphonic poem Les préludes. Performed in the open air at Villa Rufolo, the concert unfolded as daylight gradually transformed the stage and the surrounding landscape.

A sold-out debut
The concert was sold out shortly after tickets went on sale. Alessandro Palumbo’s Ravello Festival debut also received television coverage from RAI, which reported on the atmosphere and success of the traditional sunrise event at Villa Rufolo.
