Guillermo García Calvo makes his United States debut on 9 October 2026, opening The Dallas Opera’s 2026/27 season with Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love at the Winspear Opera House.

A major US debut

The engagement marks both García Calvo’s debut with The Dallas Opera and his first operatic appearance in the United States. He leads The Dallas Opera Orchestra and Chorus in the company’s season-opening production, bringing his extensive European operatic experience to Dallas.

The Elixir of Love in post-war Italy

Directed by Stephen Lawless, the production places Donizetti’s comedy in post-war Italy, drawing on the visual world of Italian cinema of the 1940s and 1950s. The cast features Soraya Mafi as Adina, Anthony León as Nemorino, Alessandro Corbelli as Dulcamara, Mihai Damian as Belcore and Kayla Nanto as Giannetta.

The production was originally created for Santa Fe Opera and is presented in Dallas as part of The Dallas Opera’s 2026/27 season.
