Iván Ortiz

Conductor

General Management

With a solid background and extensive experience as a horn soloist in the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra, Iván Ortiz is a accomplished Spanish artist. His comprehensive musical training leads him to transition into conducting, a latent desire since his youth. George Pehlivanian, Marco Guidarini, and Bertrand de Billy will be the pillars of his training. Later, his encounter with Franck Beerman allows him to serve as his assistant in productions such as Ariadne auf Naxos, Nozze di Figaro, Parsifal, and Zauberflöte. Convinced that art should be accessible to all, Iván Ortiz is part of a multidisciplinary project called “Opéra Kids,” focused on singing, dancing, and theater, with the aim of introducing children to the world of opera.

His experience in the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra makes him a highly appreciated conductor by the musicians of the small ensemble of the Paris National Orchestra, with whom he recently conducted Berio’s Folk Songs, Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder, and Stravinsky’s Dumbarton Oaks.

In January 2024, Iván Ortiz conducted the Lausanne Chamber Orchestra in the world premiere of Luis Serrano Alarcón’s work, CYCLES. The success of this concert earned him another invitation for the 2024-25 season. All this work brings him new opportunities with the Timișoara Philharmonic, the Toulouse Opera (as assistant to Maestro Beerman), and other renowned ensembles. Iván Ortiz’s musical vision and philosophical outlook on life make him a versatile and highly appreciated conductor by both musicians and audiences.
