Born in Luxembourg-City in 1995, David Daubenfeld is one of the most versatile young luxembourgish conductors. Charismatic musicianship combined with friendly interaction, energy and fantasy characterise his style.

One of the highlights of the 2023/24 season mark his italian-debut leading the world-premiere of Rosazˋ version of ,,La mer“.His first professional guest-conducting appearance was made at the age of 14 after having conducted school orchestras regularly for two years. Other highlights as guest conductor include Luxembourg Philharmonia, the symphony orchestra of the Ural State Conservatory in Yekaterinbourg (Rus.) or symphony orchestras of Wuppertal, Cologne and Bremen Conservatories of Music and had his opera debut in 2022.

At the age of 13, David got accepted into the conducting class of the Luxembourg Conservatory of Music to study with Carlo Jans and Ivan Boumans where he got opportunities to work with various ensembles and orchestras of the Conservatory. After moving to Germany for further musical studies, David got coached by Prof. Hildegard Schön and Prof. Barbara Rucha in conducting and conducted student orchestras for diploma exams.

Living in Cologne, he became as a student the first chief conductor of the symphonic wind band of the Cologne Conservatory of Music, a unique occurrence that has never happened before. The 70 people orchestra played original literature under his conducting and attracted people from Hamburg. Furthermore, he founded a chamber orchestra to focus on the late-classical and romantic repertoire.

Meeting the conductor Dima Slobodeniouk and conducting for him in Vienna, David got the chance to become his assistant conductor and gets mentored and coached since October 2022. Since then, he assisted Maestro Slobodeniouk with orchestras around Europe such as the London Philharmonic, Vienna Symphony, Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia, SWR Symphony Orchestra and others and soloists like Beatrice Rana, Martin Grubinger, Baiba Skride among others.

For the following seasons, Maestro Slobodeniouk wants to intensify the work with David. Masterclasses with Jan Stulen, Osvaldo Ferreira and Nicolas Pasquet conclude his conducting studies.

In January 2024, David was assistant conductor with Philharmonie Südwestfalen and will return to the orchestra as guest-conductor.

Besides the work as conductor, David is a Tuba player. He holds a Master‘s degree in Tuba, studied with Prof. Hans Nickel at the Cologne Conservatory of Music.

After playing as an intern with Luxembourg Philharmonic for three years, David made guest appearances with Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra, WDR Symphony Orchestra, Klangforum Wien, Gürzenich Orchestra and others.
