Alessandro Palumbo, is a conductor, pianist and composer. As a young conductor he has been able to make several important debuts in some of Italy as well as Europe’s most prestigious opera houses. During the season 2024/25 he will conduct at the Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Regio di Parma and Granada among others.
Amongst his most recent performances, Alessandro conducted a new production of Ernani at the Antwerpen Opera House, and in October 2022 was able to make his debut at the prestigious Festival Verdi, with the opera Rigoletto at Teatro Verdi in Busseto. In December 2021, he had the opportunity to conduct the very first Spanish performance of Francesca da Rimini by Saverio Mercadante at Auditorio de Tenerife, and in October of the same year Alessandro led the Orchestra of Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari in a symphonic program. In January 2019, he conducted La Boheme debuting at the prestigious Teatro San Carlo in Napoli. In October 2020, he conducted the season opening night at Auditorio de Tenerife with Requiem by Donizetti, dedicated to the victims of the pandemic. In November of the same year, Alessandro made his return to Teatro Sociale di Como, alongside the great English director Graham Vick, for a production of Mozart’s Zaide.
Alessandro made his operatic debut in 2014 conducting Massenet’s Don Quichotte with Orquesta Sinfonica de Tenerife. Since then, his professional relationship with Opera de Tenerife has developed greatly. Throughout his time working with the theatre Alessandro has worked intensively both as conductor and Musical Assistant. His role enabled him to collaborate with world renowned Maestros such as Evelino Pidò, Jader Bignamini, Massimiliano Stefanelli and artists such as Mariella Devia, Stefania Bonfadelli, Yolanda Auyanet, Riccardo Zanellato, Marianne Cornetti, Yijie Shi, Roberto De Candia.
Since 2014 Alessandro has performed in an array of top theaters including Teatro San Carlo di Napoli, Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Comunale di Sassari, Auditorium de Tenerife, Stadthalle Wuppertal, Royal Opera House Muscat, Cultural Center of Philippines.
A graduate of the Conservatorio G. Verdi of Milano, Alessandro completed his studies in piano with Maestro Michele Fedrigotti and composition with Maestro Danilo Lorenzini. He further continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Rostock in Germany, where he completed a Master in Piao Duo with the Professors Stenzl.
In 2009, he was awarded a scholarship to specialize as Vocal Coach and Korrepetitor at Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo by Palau de les Arts in Valencia, under the guidance of Maestro Alberto Zedda. In addition, throughout his studies as a conductor Alessandro was also privileged to attend masterclasses held by Donato Renzetti, Colin Metters, Gianluigi Gelmetti (Accademia Chigiana, Siena), Ulrich Windfuhr and Silvan Cambreling.
